the "high-low" desk...

My cute little home does not have a dedicated office.  But we do have a nifty little nook in our living room that we have turned into a computer space.  I searched for a before picture of my nook but was unable to find one.  Needless to say it was a hot mess.
We had an over sized computer desk with no storage.  There was mayhem and madness everywhere with all the kiddos crafting supplies, all the junk for the computer and all the stuff that accumulates on flat surfaces.

Every time I looked at that desk I got anxious.  My organizing heart would skip a beat.  I thought that we needed a better system in place for all our things.  So I started the search for  desk with drawers/ file cabinets.

I fell in love with the Whitney Rectangular Desk from Pottery Barn.....

However, I was not in love with the price!  So I decided to recreate it!
I found this incredible desk at my local salvation army.  It was 10 dollars!  Woohoo!  Bargain!

I sanded sown the top to get all carvings and finish off.

And repaired any dings and nicks with stainable wood putty.

Then I painted the desk linen white and restained the top with a walnut stain.
I found these amazing pulls at Target on clearance!  I has been secretly stalking on them for months!  They are just so cute...

All in all I think I did a pretty good job.  The pottery barn desk is $999.00  My copycat desk was a total of $30.00 all together.

Here it is all finished and put in its little nook!

It makes me happy every time I see it!
