A painted farmhouse stool

I'm short.  I'm talking 5 foot nothing kind of short. When I was younger I never really thought much about how tall I am. I was taller than my mom and that really is all that I cared about.

Now that I am older I realize that being 5 foot 1 inch can sometimes make things difficult.  It's hard to reach things.  I'm always grabbing someone to get things for me or trying to find things to climb onto. I decided that I needed to find myself a nice sturdy stool.

So you can't even guess how excited I was when I came across this amazingly sturdy stool at my favorite "antique" shop.  For $8.00.  I scooped it up as fast as I could.

I know it was pretty 1980's chic...but I could totally see the potential in this little gem.  A few coats of paint and it would be amazing.

I gave it a couple coats of my favorite antique white paint.  It was already looking 100% better.  But it still needed a little something.

I decided to tape off a simple grain sack stripe.  And then I painted it a beautiful aqua color.  It was exactly what it needed.

Isn't it purty!  I love it.  And it gets used every day. It is a serious bona fide life saver.  If I need an item from the top of my cabinets, I grab the stool.  If I need to open my kitchen windows, I grab my stool.  Top shelf in the cabinet...you guessed it. I grab my stool!  It is probably the most hardworking item in my home.  And...now I don't mind being 5 foot nothing...
